On December 14, 2015, at 87 years young, God called our beloved MeMe home to Heaven. MeMe was "clothed with strength and dignity," Proverbs 25:31. MeMe attended Gardendale First Baptist Church for 45 years. Her faith took her far, as the Lord gave her a long life with a lot of love, family and friends. She enjoyed dancing with her granddaughters and even loved to travel. MeMe left a legacy of compassion for others. MeMe was a prayer warrior for our family, and she is now walking with Jesus. Gone before MeMe are her husband Walter Purvis (DaNa); her parents Teulah and Oscar Garrett; as well as her sister Iris Arthur and her brothers Colonel O.G. Garrett, Frank Garrett and Floyd Garrett. On this side of Heaven remain her daughters Pam Edmonson (Jim) and Kim Osborn (Bruce); granddaughters Emily Edmonson and Ellen Edmonson; and nieces and nephews. Visitation - The New Gardendale Funeral Home - Saturday, December 19, 2015 from 11am to 1pm. Celebration of her life at 1pm (with Reverend Mark Harrison from GFBC officiating). Graveside at Mount Olive Cemetery to follow.
